Current uses for unmanned aircraft have created an expanded interest in the addition of applications for these devices. The possibilities of an unmanned helicopter with the improved capacity for speed, load, endurance, and stability would increase the value of these devices tenfold. Improved stability enhances surveillance capabilities, more power increase load carrying and weaponry capacity while also increasing speed. A lightweight engine with gearless reduction and counter-rotation would increase range capability, eliminate the need for a transmission and tail rotor and be a major advance in the maintenance and vulnerability reduction.
